Not so grey nomads
Well the in-laws traveled 4000km from Tassie to
Darwin in their caravan to have three weeks in
Darwin with us. One week down and Tony (father in law) was having a pee in the mens toilets when the cleaner came out of nowhere, yelling and swearing at him for using the toilets while she was trying to clean them. And if you are wondering why he ignored the cleaners sign, that is because there wasn't one used. Tony retailiated (as you would when you are treated like that so unexpectedly) and for standing up for himself, was evicted from the caravan park immediately without any refund. So they have now left and are heading
home. I can only imagine the disciplinary action that we as nurses would face if we spoke to a patient in the same manner. Shame on the cleaner, and shame on the caravan park owner for not allowing their guest to voice his side of the story. The cleaner was the one who should be evicted.

Name and Shame , we had an incident at the park nearest to the
showgrounds in
Darwin in 08 , had a booking , wife goes into kiosk to
check-in and asks if could look at the allocated site to ensure that it was large enough for our c/trailer as when set up takes as much room as a 30ft c/van , was told in words that we can't print here that if you don't like what we allocate, leave , lovely attitude , just about spoilt all of
Darwin as then could only find an allternative c/van park for 2 nights instead of the 2 weeks we had planned to stay in
Darwin.

Badgers Caravan Park Report site
This is one of the best
places to put your information. Then it lets everyone know. Naming them here will also help.

We are heading to
Darwin in a few weeks and by the sounds of it this would be one caravan park that we don't want to stay in. Can you tell us which one it was?

We are booked and paid until early next week, and given that the park threatens eviction at every turn, we cannot afford to lose our money. Name of park will be told after we leave. Ant

I've got one to steer clear off when in
Darwin.
Howard Springs Holiday Park. Disgusted by their treatment towards their customers. Our infant was still asleep at checkout time (10.00) we were told by the cleaners that it would be ok to let bub sleep for a bit longer, when we went up to reception at 11.00 to checkout we were rudely told that we would have to pay for another day as we were pas the 10.00 checkout.
No if's or buts we had to pay.

"Tony retailiated (as you would when you are treated like that)"........
Well no I wouldn't have retaliated like that actually & dare I suggest for someone to be 'evicted' from a caravan park there may
well be more to this story than is being reported?
Cheers Craig...........

Could not agree more, there is always another side to a story.
More businesses being maligned by hearsay.
In Howard Springs c/park at the moment and they could not be friendlier.

Of course there are two sides to the story. The owner was not interested in Tony's! The fact was the cleaner was foul mouthed stating how dare he be going to the toilet while she was in there. Again, there was not and still is not any warning that the cleaner is in the toilets. Tony's response may have been handled better by going straight to the owner and complaining about the cleaner, however
I would say the owner would have dismissed his claims. The cleaner lives on site, and the way her foul mouthed children run around the park gives all an idea of their conduct.

I dunno what the problem is. As annoying as it is the dunnies do need to be cleaned sooner or later and normally at quiet times. As always there are two sides to every story.

I have stayed at many parks where closed for cleaning signs are not put in the doorways.
These parks usually have a sign on the outside wall near the doorways stating the hours the amenities are closed for cleaning, amongst other information like property vigilance and childrens supervision.
It's usually pretty obvious when the cleaner is about, especially if you have been there a few days.
Maybe it was simply a tribal dialect translation problem between Darwegian and Taswegian LOL LOL

Yes that's true. Most parks USUALLY have a sign stating the times the toilets will be cleaned, but this park doesn't even have that. The only way to know the cleaner is in the toilets is if you physically see her. If she's in a toilet or shower, she's not visible. Not even a cleaning trolley in sight.

If you pay by credit card ring the bank and suspend the payment easy then they won't get a cent.

If it is as you say (we only have one side of the story) I hope you paid by ? If you did you can approach your bank to have the charges reversed on the grounds that they failed to provide the service you were charged for (ie. three weeks rent) when the amount is refunded then let them contact you for payment for the week you stayed - chances are you won't hear from them
If you do its time to talk about legal action for stress, loss your holiday, harassment etc. If they press the matter pay for the week you stayed but pay it off send them whatever you can say $10 per week/ month as long as you offer to pay and keep the payments up they cant do a thing about it remember to ask for a receipt by return mail, maybe they will think twice next time
