Tracking Towbar Concept, Just came across Sidewinder's new Tracking Towbar, this is fascinating and obviously gaining some interest among long makers and 4wd houses. Derek hasn't published much on this system that I can see, just wondering what everyone's thoughts are.? Robin Miller, where are you.? LOL

I assume (only from looking at the photos on the link) that it automatically moves the towbar off centre as you turn corners to keep the trailer tracking in the tow vehicles wheel tracks - would be great for tight tracks (I think...)

Looks like the drawbar on the tractor I learned to drive on 55 years ago.
An updated version certainly but seems to allow you to shift the towball point sideways to allow you to tow the trailer off centre.
Maybe on tracks or something like that.
We used it to offset ploughs and scufflers.
Not much call for them in the 4 wd world I guess LOL

Not too sure what the application would be for a road going concern.
There are two different types related to a tractor that is the "swinging Drawbar" which can be locked in position by pins allowing it to be used in and offset position and a "rolling drawbar" which can roll freely in either direction, when towing an implement in a straight line it pulls in the middle but when cornering it
swings to the side thus reducing the sideways forces on rear tyres on a convention tractor and it spreads the strain on an articulated or track tractor.
I would thing that on a road situation one would not want a roller action. Imagine the sway you could achieve with the drawbar moving as
well.

Hi Guys
The tracking tow bar has been moth balled for the last 5 years due to the high manufacturing cost, even out sourcing to China and Taiwan still brings the unit cost in at around $3000.00, every time I visit a suitable factory I do get quotes but still no luck with it sorry.
Here is a short into video about the bar.
