How long? - Anne Beadell Hwy - Connue Sue Hwy trip

Hi all,

Am researching a possible trip for early September this yr.

Am thinking -
Adelaide - Cook - Vokes hill corner to cook road, Anne Beadell Hwy to Neale Junction, then Connie Sue Hwy up to Warburton, GCR to Stuart why then back home to Adelaide.

Am aware of of the corrugations on this trip, so have fitted a set of new Old Man Emu Nitrocharger sport shocks to replace my old OME's.

Question is, how long to allow for the trip ? am thinking 1.5 - 2 wks , would that be enough to get through without rushing and missing things ?

2 blokes traveling solo, 100 series V8 petrol landcruiser.

Thanks for your replies.

I'd suggest your time of two weeks will be plenty. The Connie Sue is a good run up to Warburton and easily done in 1.5 to 2 days stopping to look at things. Not a big fan of the OME Nitros having used them on the ABH and the Canning. Make sure you adjust your tyre pressures down to assist them and stop for a break to cool them more frequently when in the badly corrugated areas.

If you have an infrared temperature monitor with you, check your shock temps every now and then while travelling the corrugations. You may be surprised as I was.

Here’s a bit of video of the Connie sue on the section between Neale Junction and Warburton.

Have a safe trip.

Mick

Hi Mick

Thanks for your reply, I am a big fan of your blogs ! I have spent hours reading them all, what fun you must have on your quad - i have an Ebay quad myself :-(

Thats interesting about the Old Man Emu Nitrochargers - I actually wanted to fit Tough Dog 45mm Adjustables on the cruiser - but i could only fit them on the rear. ( IFS front ) I was told Tough Dog Ralph shocks would fit front and rear but couldn't find much about them in the way of reviews.

Will make sure to stop frequently to let them cool,

Thanks for the info ,
Will
