The Engel is not what it used to be.
I have had 4 go now, for different customers and yes, power boards go and compressors. Which takes which out I dont know
Not worth repairing, as it cost new enough to new, with new you get a lot more warrenty.
You cannot get just compressors any more and have to purchase the whole cooling unit.
I am a frig mech and have repair a lot of the green ones when you could get parts.
I still have a 15l green one about 20 years old and still working. I have new 39L grey one that is the electronic model still goes ok, but if it fails, I will throw it away and would not buy engel again, due to the not being able to buy evaporator, or compressors.

I have a 40 litre and a 26 year old 29 litre Engel.

The Compressor in the old 29 litre died and I made a claim on insurance.

I only had to pay $100 excess.

Maybe check with your insurance co.

Had many Engels the old ones still great. In a ute with a canopy they overheat in summer especially out west. Have 2 40lt and a 13lt. No longer made in Japan so im not sure about quality control. You dont get what you pay for anymore. I had an old yellow 40 lt went for 28 years.

Good Luck

bit of hard work but engal being a premium fridge and priced accordingly means its still under statuary warranty after 4 years .

meaning the expected lifespan of the product given its branding position in the market would reasnably expected to be well over 4 years

no the rep wont want to knowq about that it would have to be taken up directly with engal

I used to think Engel were the best after seeing so many of the old ones going for more than 25 years.

1.Power supply went In my 40Lt last Easter, It was 8 years old.
2.Cooling system went in the old mans 40Lt last month one 4 years old.
3.Brother got his same time as mine & is still going but not holding my breath!

Hearing a lot of stories in regards to Engels manufacturing standards, classic case of how to ruin a good name.

It would be interesting to start a thread asking everybody that is happy with their Engel fridge to respond!
