We were there 4 years ago, so can't comment about the road conditions at present. I was amazed at how good the roads were, the nearby
mine ensures that.
There is a short walk which takes you to the top of an island in
the gorge. I think it starts near where you hire the canoes from and the giant catfish live. We thought that was a fantastic short walk.
Mad if you don't hire a canoe and paddle up
the gorge, great leisurely paddle. We also took a guided tour to the
Riversleigh fossil site. It wasn't cheap but having an experienced guide explained so much more about what you see and taught us a fair bit about the local area.
A gem of an oasis in the dry savanah. Our family spent 3-4 days there, could easily have spent a week.

Generally speaking the road is in good condition, and includes a fair amount of bitumen. Keep a good look out for (get out of the way!) the large trucks using the road from the Century Zinc
mine.
Adel’s Grove and
Lawn Hill are both wonderful
places to visit and shouldn't take any more than a couple of hours, if that...
Enjoy.

Hi Tastpa
I was there only 5 weeks ago and the road between
Gregory Downs and the Century
Mine turnoff is very good but after that they are doing some roadworks with some detour sections. In all it should only take around an hour.

Hi , I was there last Sept and agree with Mark re the canoes up
the gorge and walk but after 2pm there was no one to hire them from , TOO warm so used palm fronds to paddle with . A great view and photos from the top of walk , have to learn how to put them on , computer illiterate .

Ask at Adels Grove what are the hours for canoe hire. If it is very quiet, they may be rostering their staff for shorter hours.
