He generates the electricity to charge the bike's battery with the wind turbine.

So OK, if we mount all the wind-power generators on trucks and drive them around we will not be dependant on natures wind? LMAO

Looking more carefully at the photos I can now see that there are TWO turbines. Perhaps the front one is in fact a motor driven from a solar cell to create the wind to drive the second turbine to charge the battery. Maybe he could even feed the output of the battery back to drive the first turbine when there is not enough sun....or wind...or..or...whatever. By jove, I think the lad may just have something here, "infernal energy" or whatever.

Perhaps if he had an Electric car and used the generators to charge the batteries for that there would be some sense in it .

A bit pointless using a car to generate the wind to drive the generator to charge the batteries

He will get some energy from the wind - it won't all come out of the energy of the petrol. For example , if the car is stationary and its windy, the turbine will generate power from the wind. When he starts moving into the wind, there will be extra energy from the wind generated by the forward motion of the car which will come from the petrol. Of course, down wind he wont generate any power till the car exceeds windspeed, and then all the energy will come from the petrol. The whole idea doesn't seem particularly efficient though.

And it wasn't even a Moke to start with. He wrecked a perfectly good Mini to create this contraption. This bloke has too much time and money on his hands.

Check this out.

Typical greenie.
How romanticaly environmentaly friendly.
Jumping on the bandwagon by riding an environmentaly sensitive green electric bike to Birdsville with batteries that are charged by renewable environmentally friendly wind generation.

Wind produced by a petrol engine.
Turn off the engine & the batterys won't have enough charge to get away from the sound of the surf.
