G'day Driverdon,
The glowplug timer is located in the drivers side footwell right hand panel in the 80 series GXL. LCOOL is generally the place to go for expert advice, you just have to register. I know for a fact - do NOT
test the circuits of the timer using 12 volts the way the factory manual recommends, as you will smoke it up. Don't ask how i know.
The plugs into the back of the alternator can create some problems, remove the plug and clean it. It must noticably 'click'
home into position.
5 Hours and couldn't find it, he should get on a
forum.
Good Luck,
Bill

Hi Driverdon, I have a 2002 Troopy and the glow plugs were not working. After an hours search (not as patient as you) looking for both the relay and the controlling timer I gave up and put a pushbutton on the dash and wired in a new relay.
I have since found the timer behind the glovebox (remove glovebox, you will then find the timer on the RH side). I still haven't found the relay. But hey, .... I'M IN CONTROL!

Up behind the glove box, go to
ToyoDiy page 4 of 8 in the electrical section and you will see it and the page before has the relay. just type in your VIN Number and your parts will come up.
Cheers
