We are planning on travelling the Gunbarrell from
Wiluna in about 14 days time. Has anyone done it recently? We are noticing lots of deterioration in some of the remoter roads (EG Coberg Pen and tracks off the Gibb) it makes us suspect the worst. Nissan Patrol (if that's what you're wondering)

Gidday
I travelled the Gunbarrel from
Warburton to
Wiluna in July. Friom
Wiluna to
Carnegie and out to the
shire boundary it is a maintained outback road, so good in
places you will have trouble keeping the speed down!
Beyond that it is a typical outback track: some corros, some rocky bits, some washouts, even the occasional good section. In the worst corrugated bits there are sometimes three or four tracks. Whether one is better than another, who knows?
The usual advice applies, I am sure you will have read it all before: lower the tyre pressures, drive to the conditions, don't set an unrealistic schedule and you shouldn't have any major trouble.
The desert was in good nick when we were there and it was a great trip. i hope you enjoy it.
Cheers
Rocco

You'll probably be about 10 days before us. Post a blog or let us know via the
forum how it is.
