Take no notice of the above Philistines as what works for you is good for you.
Also, in all my BD's (Born Days) of which there are many unfortunately, this post is the first time I have ever heard of the Petroleum based ink theory.
I was born in the bush in West Aust just after WWII when things/stuff were in very short supply. Newspaper and methylated spirits were in abundance though and were the order of the day for cleaning all things with glass windows.
Just add a liberal amount of metho to some warm/hot water, wash subject glass with this mix and then dry/polish it off with scrunched up newspaper, until all the scunge was removed and the glass shone clean.
The Newspaper had the effect of drying the glass as the paper fibres 'cut' the crud off the glass.
The chemical cleaning agent in this instance was methylated spirits, applied with a cloth, now days with a wetex sponge.
If this so called Petroleum based ink scenario was the order of the day, how come the good old boys & girls of yesteryear always did the metho in hot water trick first.
No doubt someone is going to say the metho released the petroleum base from the printers ink. Yeah!
well, then you would have black printers ink everywhere.
Stan 2.8D - you get my vote on this one.
