I have an Engel 38L Eclipse model fridge/freezer (the one with the plastic case) and I have some concerns that it might not seal as
well as the usual model (metal cabinet) Engels. It seems to me that the latches do not pull the lid down firmly enough onto the case seal (as does the metal style) and thus it might be allowing air to escape. A simple
test like placing a sheet of paper between the lid and body before closing the lid will see the paper easily pulled out with the lid locked down.
I am wondering if anybody has experienced this and has developed either a) a way of clamping the lid tighter by adjusting the latches; or b) replaced the flimsy plastic latches with something more substantial? Your
views would be appreciated.

Hi
Gordon
We have the same ( I think ). I have just done the
test with a piece of note paper and it is fine, the paper is firm.
My only suggestion is, to make sure all the screws are tight,
check you have the seal in the lid, as this is quite a lose fit and try reversing the lid to se if it is any better.
Good luck
Brian
