Hi Redbakk,

Scaremongering I think - look at the title, "4WDing in Australia is under threat once again!". What crap!!!!

It doesn't affect me as I'm in WA and my ride height mods do not exceed 75mm.

The legislation is not retrospective, so existing vehicles will not be affected.

Ride height can be up to 150mm with an engineering certificate.

The only negative that I can see is that they are giving some credence to the authority of the Four Wheel Drive NSW or ACT Inc and the Australian National 4wd Council - that is a worry.

So in answer to your question no I am not concerned and no I am not going to do anything about it.

Cheers
Alan

Sounds like a whole lot of "bull twang" to me! Modifications to allow for slightly higher loads seems reasonable.. To fit HUGE tyres to no purpose other than to say, "Look at me! I am a 4 wheel driver!" is nonsense. I, in my somewhat limited experience, by the standards of many, I have yet to see such "highly modified" four wheel drive units used by the genuine tourist/four-wheel driver. They are looking for what is needed for their travels not to look stupid!

50mm or 2 inch lift and 33 inch tyres is ample for anywhere anyway. IMHO any more is overkill and not warranted so I think this is just an over reaction by the mag because alot of there sponsors specialise in selling some extreme type of modification.

Sounds like they are not saying you can't do a high lift and big tyres anyway, you just need an engineer to sign it off which is no big deal.

A bit of hoo ha about not very much I think.

Hi,
I agree with you Anthony. I live in the SW of WA and if you had seen some of the tracks that are now impassable to mere mortal machines due to these "monster trucks " and their huge tyres i think most right minded normal 4x4ers would agree.
There is a place for these machines and the competion arena is that.
Only my opinion.
Cheers AL

You have to remember 4wd Action caters for the so called "HOON" 4wder.... big lift..... big wheels..... old highly modified vehicles and the encouragement of abuse and destruction of tracks.

I can tell you the word "Touring" isn't something they know about.

Watch there video's..... the Simpson..... the High Country...

I would say there magazine has contributed a lot to forcing the NSW RTA to take action.

Remember if it doesn't make it through legislation 4wd Action will be on the bandwagon of how they single handedly stopped it ...AGAIN!

Yep sounds like a real problem again RedBakk and we will certainly be objecting.

Its very important that we object to each and every attempt to place arbitary restrictions on any section of australian community.

Patriucularly when its not based on any reasonable technical gorunds.

These things work by constantly chipping away at various rights , usually its frammed such that it will impact a small section at a time , and so many have an "I'm all right jack " attitude , do nothing and next round they get affected.

So please send in you email objection ,4wd action for all there critism have done the groundwork , and were at the forefront of the recent bullbar ban attempt.
