Thanks again the program is working a treat on both windows 7 and Vista Ultimate. Pleased as punch ready now for 4 days in the desert country NE Perth this weekend not that we need UBD for this trip but there is piece of mind that all is working. I think I have been buying Trackranger since version 4 and continue to be pleased with its ease of use, Regards Geoff

I have no connection with Trackranger just a happy customer and user.

Hello Mick

Someone provided a link to a demo version (VW7.4.2a - a search of the forum may reveal who - apologies I have forgotten). Strangely at the time I couldn't find the same llink to this download on the TR website? Weird.

Anyway ...Think I've said all this before but I don’t think my opinion on “ease of set-up and use” would be that valid considering I have been using OziExplorer for near on 13 years. New programs of any type can be a challenge. I can’t remember how “easy” OziExplorer was to learn etc.

Hence my question to new chums, as the same claim (it’s easier than OziExplorer) seems to pop up every few months (bit suspicious if you ask me :)

Think I have ask about three or four people now (on this forum and elsewhere) who have claimed TR to be easier to use and set up than OziExplorer ..but no one has ever provided a proper answer (in my view).

What exactly is harder about the set up and ease of use of OziExplorer compare to TR? Be specific if you can. Just interested to know. My guess is that both have their good and bad points.

Popularity seems to point in one direction, but this could be a consequence of better marketing along with other factors such as OziExplorer also having a CE and Android version. Most available maps work in both.

What is so hard about Ozi compared to TR?

Cheers
Greg

We use Trackranger and Ozi Explorer and by far Ozi Explorer is the easiest to use and setup with more accessible user friendly functions.

Every thing seems to flow with Ozi.

Trackranger reminds me of the old DOS programs using low level graphics and bad user interfaces.

The main reason we use Trackranger is it has a brilliant trip data logging function but apart from that we use Ozi as our main program.

Trackranger is an amateurish dog compared to Ozi Explorer. Trackranger limited in functions and fails when left up and running for long time because of issues with memory leaks. Trackranger charges for updates which are few and far between where Ozi Explorer is lifetime free updates.

Hi Crow,
you said... "I think I have been buying Trackranger since version 4..."

So are you saying that you "have to pay for your upgrades" each time?
OziExplorer upgrades are free.
