Has anyone got the perfect set up?. I would like to have towball view and rear view to see who's approaching from the rear without having towingmirrors. I do have an older model gps but was wondering if the new combo units (GPS, Rearview cameras with split screen all in one) was the way to go. Can anyone recommend anything from their own experiences.

Hi Mossmac,
I had a similar setup in my 80 series cruiser to Hy ryder but the monitor is a roof mounted 7" unit which flips down.
From what I have read the camera needs to be CCD for continuous viewing.
The difference is one is a reversing camera and the other is a rear view camera
The CMOS ones are not designed for continuous use as they can over heat if one for prolonged periods, according to my information, but are OK for reversing.
CCD is OK for any situation apparently.
Ebay is about the cheapest you will find although the prices are all over the place depending on what you want..
I now have a 100 series and am thinking of one of the all in one units to fit in the double din radio housing but have not made up my mind yet. The 100 series has a roof console and I don't want to disturb things too much so the small monitor above the mirror sounds like a good idea there Hi Ryder.

The idea of the monitor above the mirror is so the heat wont kill it . and also quick vision . My main concern was to keep it out of sight and heat .

sorry just read all of your post . The double dins are great . I have a triton(2005) single din so that was not a option . The old man has a 2008 Triton they come out with double din . The only down side with them is you have to manualy change the plug after hook up becuse most of the in dash units are only one channel . No biggy really you have to plug in your seven pin anyway . I have just done this to the old mans triton but left the camera plug on a longer lead so you can change it over with ease . Not sure ethier of the double din if the camera is on the music might cut out . if you planed on using it like a full time camera .Not sure i will find out today im fitting his van with a camera .
