Need to get a new thermometer for Fridge. Eva Kool, Engel & Waeco all have their own brands.
Does anyone know which is best or do they all come out of same factory with a different badge on it.
Thanks

Have 2 that I use on a trailblazer and an engel. Personally I think they are a waste of time. I got them for nothing. I use the traolblazer as a freezer so the temp gauge means nothing. On the 60 liter engel it measuresthe inside and external temps. No idea how accurate. I go by the position on the fridges number dial. i.e. 2 means fridge cool, 4 means very cold for beers.7 means.its freezing.Simple really.
Get to know your fridge thru usage rather than relying on something else that needs batteries.

Lyndsay,

I just use one of these and throw it in my Trailblaza or in my van upright engel to check all is well.

Here is the LINK

It has done well and I can use it where ever I want.

Lyndsay,

I have my Engel in the rear of the Troopy, with the 'Engel' temperature probe inside.

The cord runs up to the front where I can see it while travelling. This is so I can confirm that all is well - the plug hasn't come out, or for some other reason the unit isn't working.

As we usually run the Engel as a freezer we have to know promptly if the temperature starts to rise.

So for us having one is a great idea. It has worked well for 5 years or so.

I use the waeco one with the cord and probe - not as compact as some, but fairly accurate.
I have found that the engel 'cordless' units chill the remote unit's battery and it goes haywire until you turn the fridge off - then it comes back on perfectly once it warms up - not really fit for purpose.......

we have the "Engle" one and it does seem to cut out from time to time, we do not use it for the actual temp reading but rather to keep an eye on the fridge to make certain it is still working .....
If you have a fridge in the back of the ute, in the full "ambiant" temp and it is a really hot day and something goes wrong you can lose all of the contents in a few hours and if you are driving you probally do not stop under 2 hour drives..

I use the Evakool wireless one on my Engel. Son uses one on his Waeco. I Have wired the sender right next to the actual engel sender so it reads within 1 degree of the Engel. My son has the sender velcro'd on the ridge between the fridge compartment and cooler section on his CF50. If the sender sits in the bottom of the fridge and gets surrounded by liquid it does not read true. Definitely worth having to show you if your fridge temp is changing. Doesn't really matter what it shows as long as it is consistent.

Also they are not expensive. $30-$50. Basically one ruined fridge contents if you get caught out. Also the Evakool has high and low temp alarms. I assume the others would have too.

Also with the Evakool the sender electronic unit sits outside the fridge with it's own display. Handy if you are parked up and going in and out of the fridge (beer o'clock!!!)

Good luck.

Hi Lyndsay,

I run 2 thermometers, 1 which is a cordless engel brand and 1 that is a probe with a cord running to the display.

I have the corded one stuck to the outside and have the cordless one sitting in the front of the car.

i think they work well and seem accurate.

Cheers Wilko
