John, this is probably not in line with your question but in considering 700HD recently I had the opportunity to take it to the car in sunlight and the screen was almost unreadable. I didn't proceed with the purchase. New units on the market thes days promote the virtues of WVGA-800X480 screen resolution which makes images sharper...yes, but unless the hardware (the screen) has sufficient luminosity (brightness) you cant see it any way in
bright sunlight in the car in a real world situation.
(I feel that unless you can SEE the screen most everything else is irrelevant)

The VMS uses where IS street mapping, and updates are usually made available on a yearly basis, these are supplied on SD card, and cost between $100 - $200. I've just included this information in the product description as
well.
