I am heading to the
Grampians tomorrow from
Adelaide with the family, Prado and Jayco Eagle. I have been on the parks web site and can't decide which
camp ground to head for.
Grampians experts help.
Thanks for your responses.
Alex

I think we stayed at the Plantation
camp ground back in 2009. Absolutely fantastic
camp ground. Most of the other
camp grounds were fairly crowded, but not where we were. Heaps of room.
A rather large tree stopped us going any further on this track!

I would ring the parks and talk to them. There was a lot of flood damage and some of the main roads and tracks were closed up to only a few week ago. We were at
Halls Gap 2 weeks ago and had to detour almost to
Stawell to get to the lookouts on the other side. The roads were opened a few days later.

Hi Alex
I would agree with the previous poster, ring the park headquarters there regarding what is open. We looked at heading to the
Grampians at
Easter and there were only 2 campgrounds open then, and decided to head elsewhere. There was extensive damage from the floods and I believe they are only now opening up sections as many roads and tracks were simply washed away.
However, we have "done" the
Grampians a few years ago, and had a great time at Jimmy's Creek
Campground. They did have
toilets there at that stage, and it was fairly quiet as it's a little away from most of the major attractions, but to us this was a bonus!! We were able to have an open fire as
well. There was also plenty of birdlife/wildlife, make sure you shut your food containers up overnight as the possums can get hungry!!
Have a great time, Leanne
