Mixing batteries

Hi

Just wondering what the battery guru's think of the situation of having similar types but different capacity batteries in parallel, i.e, 2 x 50 A/HR AGM's and 1 x 100 A/HR AGM?

Cheers

Lyndon

Hi Lyndon,

can be done.
Keep in mind that if one of the older batteries carks it by shorting out a cell, the others in the parallel configuration will slowly be discharged (within a couple of days).
If the parallel configured batteries are charged by alternator, there's a chance that the defective battery deforms if it's installed under the bonnet.

cheers, Peter

Thanks Peter
Just what I thought. I am actually relocating my under bonnet battery into the rear.
As you mention, heat is an issue. Through experience I have found that under the bonnet a battery lasts about half the time it otherwise would.

Cheers
