Hi
I have wired from my car battery to the 7 pin plug for aux connection. I have used 4mm square cable.
To make shaw this does not flatten the battery I have a relay in line controlled from the ignition on.
am I right in suggesting that the original caravan wiring goes from aux on the plug to the caravan fridge
John

reckon you may have to
check it
Could be a charging wire to the battery as
well
Not to sure about the 7 pin plug
I use a 12 ping flat withthe bottom row pins being 35 amp

Then I misread your original post which says
"am I right in suggesting that the original caravan wiring goes from aux on the plug to the caravan fridge "

John, are you referring to a 3 way fridge?
I am sure 4mm sq will be waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to small. You will need at least about 15mm sq ( 6 AWG) if it is 3 way, otherwise the voltage drop will be excessive and your fridge will never cool.
Generally it is wired to pin 2 ( reverse).

Being an Electrical Contractor I am using "our" cable sizes in fact it is 6 awg and I ran two twin cables from the car one 8AWG from the isolator through a
Anderson plug to the battery and a 6AWG for the fridge each a twin red/black.

6 AWG or 6 Gauge or 6 B&S all the same thing run through an anderson plug
ALL THE WAY from BATTERY TO FRIDGE
Same for battery charging will make SURE it works
Mine has 8g for the fridge and we never had any problems except on the 51c days at
Port Augusta
