Morton Island Camping since QLD floods? Any good?

Hi
Thinking of holidaying on Morton island. I haven't been there before and have experienced Frazer (big rap). What is Morton like given its so close to Brisbane?
Appreciate your experieces.

Hi Mick,

We've just returned from Moreton and it's the same as I remember it 15 years ago. Just a small version of Fraser Island. It's all sand and the rain doesn't seem to affect things too much.

I saw no evidence of the Oil spill at all.

We did catch some nice flathead on the northern beach which had a few gutters, but the surf beach was pretty featureless.

Regards

Hi MicknCarolyn, Its different to Frazer, proberly not as beautiful as Frazer with its blue lakes etc, but still just as good for other reasons. For one you don't get the volume of backpackers on Moreton. Also on Moreton if you camp on the eastern beaches at the right time of year, you get the dolphins & whales swimming right along the shore on their daily hunt for food. Truly a magical sight. A couple of mates have just returned from there last week & there is no problems since floods. It is a must see.
Regards, Pete.

We camp there before Christmas every year - north of Tangalooma Wrecks - near Cowan Point . It is very pleasant on the calm side but you are exposed to storms coming across Moreton Bay. We came home 3 days early last year after getting slammed by severe storms every day. Hopefully won't be as bad this year!. We got some nice dart in the gutters on the eastern side.
