Hi Mike,

Havent been there for 6 weeks but it was in good condition with caution at creek crossings. Best bet is to check the Pink roadhouse website.

Hi Dustmike,

Up to date information can be obtained through the SA Transport Dept website. The department employs crews to monitor and report on road conditions. They're also the ones who organise for grading and road repair to be undertaken.

Visit:

http://www.transport.sa.gov.au/quicklinks/northern_roads/area2.asp

Halligan Bay Track Public Access Route (from William Creek into Lake Eyre) is currently open pen to 4WD with caution - Trailers and caravans are not recommended.

I completed the drive from Roxby to William Creek, then out to Lake Eyre over the October Long weekend. Road was in very good condition, we were expecting much worse on the drive into Lake Eyre, turned out to be a walk in the park.

With the high volume of traffic going into Lake Eyre, the road has been graded, the worst you will see are some corrugations, but nothing too special. Rain can change conditions overnight, so keep an eye on the weather, though the rains in that region this year have been minor compared to last year.

Cheers

It was graded at the end of August. Even before the grader it was fine. A bit corrugated, fine for trailers, a bit rough on vans, but plenty of vans were doing it slowly.

We were there about two months ago. It was so corrugated ... but other than that it was fine.
