ARB Fridge/Freezer

Hi Everyone, and Merry Christmas,

Just wondering if anyone has one of the ARB Fridges?
We are looking at the 60ltr, they look pretty good and are alot lighter than engel.

Cheers,

G'day Shell

I own the 47L version and I think they are superb!
Strong and light is a bonus but I haven't done any extreme trips with it yet. Comparing it
with the Waeco 35L the ARB wins all the time.

You won't be disappointed

Currently running on 240V for the Xmas ham in the garage :)

I dont get how just because it has an ARB badge they can ask $1599 for it. It has the same compressor as the Waeco, similar construction and similar features. A 60L Waeco will cost you around $1100 if you haggle a bit.

If you are talking $1599 you might as well buy a real fridge & get a Trailblazer or something of a similar standard instead of farting around with cheap non insulated jobs.

Hi Matt,

Thanks for that, I wonder if they have different prices fron State to State as the local rep in Kalgoorlie quoted me $1500 with the cover for 60ltr?
Will have to look into that.

Hello again Shell,
These prices were via tha ARB "Christmas Gift Guide" which gets sent, along with the usual ARB Newsletter/Magazine, I always assumed it was a National Mag.........Maybe there are extra Freight Charges to Kal??!!??

Hi,

Recently got a 60l ARB fridge to replace my 20 year old 40l engel as the price was right at the time. The good thing about the 60l is that it doesn't sit as high as my 40l engel which means my wife can get into it easier when in the back of the car.
Its longer and wider but not as high.

Thats the same with the 60L engel too, its lower than the 40L but wider/longer - same height as the 30L Engel.

Cheers

I have a 47 ltr ARB frig and prev.had an Engel .
Altho. it lasted for years I had constant worries with poor lead connector and replaced thermostat more than 3 times.
ARB connectors are very certain..Only comment I would like to make is that the ARB seems to have a variance in temperature markedly between bottom and higher levels inside the cabinet.ie something may be frozen at the bottom ,but at the top quite soft.
I have owned no others so this may be common to all.I did not experience this markedly with the old Engel

Hi Robert,

thanks for your input. We have purchased the 60ltr ARB I pick it up after Christmas. Weight is a huge issue for us being Fulltime Caravanners. Always looking for ways to keep the weight down.
Cheers and Merry Christmas,
