For those of you who enjoyed watching Tommo the Camp Oven Cook, you may be saddened to hear like i was, that he apparently passed away on Boxing Day. i really enjoyed watching Tommo as he was a true Aussie character, nothing polished about him, just out there enjoying camping and exploring our great country like so many of us do.
RIP Frank 'Tommo' Thompson.

G/Day rumpig

Tommo was a great Aussie Character.

I enjoyed the simple way he cooked with the camp oven.

He lived a couple of ks from us and we would see him and his wife quite often.

Tommo will be sadly missed.

Cheers

How damn sad. The man was a real Aussie always looking for the next opportunity to do business while making many friends

I first met Tommo some 10 years ago when he was venturing into the camper trailer market, which did not last too long as it was just before that category of camping again became popular. He was a real 'breath of fresh air' with his trust in people and a natural conversationalist.

He then moved onto the Great South East (a weekend outdoors programme on channel 7 in Brisbane) as a guest cooking expert in bush cooking and unusual ingredients. He cooked some wonderful meals over the years that help people get into using a camp oven.

He was still in great demand on the festival circuit dishing up his special comradarie to all who would stop to talk to him.

Rest in peace Tommo, I'm sure that the quality of food in Heaven has gone up considerably.

Patrick

Very sad news. An "earthy" sort of bloke. I last saw him at the Adelaide camping show. No aires and graces! Just had a great way of working his audience. Loved his Community TV channel 'travel show', too.

Yes, this is sad news,
We met him at the Melbourne caravan show.
Just as you say, a true down to Earth bloke. I don't know if he'd been sick or it was sudden?
Whatever, we hope he finds peace & send our commiseration's to his family & friends. Safe travels Thommo.

Take care, safe travels.
Bye for now Pa & Ma.
