If you had to pick one map book to explore inland Australia, this would be it.
In trying to plan a trip along the
Oodnadatta Track I had difficulty in finding a single map source with all the necessary information on it. Until I discovered this book.
Conveniently spiral bound and about the same size as my street directory, this 'down the side of the
seat' book has a fairly comprehensive set of maps for the parts of Australia that other maps leave out. It also has plenty of information about camping, regional requirements for travellers, safety information, as
well as detailed information about plants and animals likely to be encountered.
I can see this book being a highly valuable resource for 4WDers, campers and caravanners, as
well as people pursuing activities such as bird watching and fishing in the wild country.
While I have a variety of different maps for all parts of Australia, this is the book I reach for first when thinking about inland travel, and very often it is the only map resource I need.
