The best thing is an Aussie Traveller Anti flap kit. With a Fiamma you will need what is called funny enough A Fiamma extenstion kit.

Just give ATRV a call or look up there web site

G'day Steven

Another question rather than a helpful hint. I've been looking at replacing a bag awning annex on our Jayco with a Fiamma F45 awning, and have been quoted $328 by Jayco for the anti flap strips, which as far as I can gather extend the length of the awning side from camper to pole. Are these the 'straps' that you reckon are no good?

Cheers
John

Not sure John as I was looking for an off the shelf item rather than a $300+ Fiamma product, guess more homework is required

Thanks Steven

I get the impression that the $300 anti-flap strips may also double as guides for an enclosed annex. As you say, more research required.

We have the $300+ Fiamma kit and it works well. also had made up a black mesh wind brake/stop others walking under our awning ($250) that can be quickly set up and held with velcro.

Have also a wide 60mm web nylon belt that is position over the middle of the awning from end to end and tensioned down with pegs. However, since we do not as yet have 2 curved awning tensioners when its windy the webbing and the awning make a flapping noise.

If you are going to keep your van the Fiamma alternative may be a good buy.

For easy of install to me it helps if you have a small step ladder.

I also looked at tent poles at either end with anti flap straps.

Thanks Peter

The decision to retro fit the Fiamma awning is made, together with curved roof support. It's then a matter of how many more bits and pieces to get.

John my comment was about the Fiamma awning end fittings,.(2 AL fittings that slide into each other and a pole, 1 set for each awning end) that you can use to stop the awning flapping and you can use to fit end walls.

The Fiamma fittings grip the awning ends in a tight clamp unlike 2 or 3 anti flap sets at each end.

I rounded and taped the corner edges of the top sections of the Fiamma AL end fittings (2 each end) just in case they caught on, or wore a hole in the awning.

Have a look at Fiamma Anti Flap for ideas.
I got one of these http://caravansplus.com.au/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=8964 and another similar extendable tent pole and modified standard antiflappers to suit. It works reasonable well.
