Looking at finding a engine control unit for my rd28 GQ Patrol. $1300 new from Nissan!! It sits behind the kick panel next to the right foot and controls the pulse to the glow plugs. Small motherboard that sits in a metal case below the fuses.
part number 2371022J00
No joy in
Adelaide or interstate from what I can find. Closest I can find is one used from a supplier in Italy but conscious it could be programmed differently than Aussie cars.
Apparantly there is not 1 of my cars in 50 wreckers (on the hot line) in
Adelaide. Good news for reliability but I find it hard to believe there can't be one in Australia somewhere.....
Thanks,

Gossy,
You tried Palmerston 4WD Spares, in Palmerston/
Darwin?
There used to be a bloke from WA on here, some years back, that put a Chev V8 in a 2.8 GQ. Can't even remember his name now. He'd probably have one as a spare?
Bob.

If it only controls the glow plugs get Auto Electrican to put a manual push button on the dash through a relay.
AFI
Try this above company if link not working there name is Australian Fuel Injection
They rebuild car ECU/car computers so might be able to repairs you or supply a new one.
Lot of mechanics use them in Australia.
Thanks Graham

agree this might be the way to go but rather now. One job I know this box does is measure the EGT temp and then decided whether the glow plugs go on or off. Especially good in cold weather as it can do it whilst the engine has started until it's up to temperature.
A 'nice to have' if not working at all though.
What I don't know is what else this box does? do you know?
I'll try their website now. ta,

I dont anything about this box, just that I'm a mechanic that has used above Company to fix a faulty "coil driver "in a 2005 6 cylinder Falcon
Thanks Graham

Mine was playing up about halfway through last year...thort it was the control unit as well. Also thort it may have been the timer relay ...but was wrong on both counts. Turned out to be the cheaper glow plugs that were replaced because it was missing cold. Replaced the lot with NGK plugs ....and hasnt missed a beat since. out of the 6 cheaper types....3 were dead shorted....2 front ones and 1 rear one.
HTH.

these electrical issues are a mungrel to fault find. I'm thinking now after going thru my manual that it might be the temperature sensor. When the glow light flashes on the dash I also lose my rev counter.
anyone come across this before?
