Hi all,

Myself and some other old guys are planning a motor bike trip from Cape lewin to cape york and am having trouble finding out what fuel types are available at some of the remoter sites.
In particular the central highway from laverton to alice, the sandover highway to Camerwheel and from Normanton to Coen via kowanyama pornpuraaw.
As we cant carry more than about 600klm of fuel on the bikes so it is an issue.
Also any feedback/information re river crossing / road conditions on the normanton to coen section would also be usefull if anyone has travelled this way.
We expect to be travelling this section late May.
Any info is welcome

For road reports look here

I planned to do the Dunbar Station etc road last year but the road was closed then, and looks like it is now,

Hi Dennis

A lot of places in central Oz have Opal fuel instead of unleaded, eg Warburton and Warrakurna on the Great Central Road, but there's plenty of roadhouses along that road for fuel.
I think only Alparra has fuel along the Sandover.

Cheers, John

Dennis,

I've sent you a message with some details of mates who did that trip in 2010 on bikes.

Enjoy.
