Hi All,
We will be in Marree mid June for our longed for flight over Lake Eyre. Which is the better caravan park to stay in? We have camper trailers.
Thanks, Sue B

there is camping spots behind the pub wich is free and you can use there toilets .But to use there showers is a gold coin donation wich i think they give to the flying doctors.
When i was there a few weeks ago there was only 1 caravan park open.

Yes, camping at the hotel is the go or you could stay in the hotel itself if you don't mind the ghosts or in the attached motel rooms which are very good. Ask Phil, the hotel publican, to show you the 1818 stone used to build the pub, it came out from London as balast on one of the sail ships, fascinating. They also do a great meal in the hotel.

Thanks for the response. I'm sure that if we stay at the caravan park, we will still spend abit of time at the pub! cheers

We were in Marree June last year, we stayed at the Marree Caravan Park. It was not the flashiest caravan park but it was a great place to stay. We met some very interesting people there & at night they have a 2 course dinner for $15.00 each, it was great value . Sitting around the camp fire of a night with people from all over Australia & even some from O/Seas was a great way to spend a couple hours & speak about each others experiences. You will have a great time

Make sure you phone before you get there and confirm your flights, my wife rang two days before we got there to confirm and was told everything was right, when we got to the van park the first person we talked to told us they had booked their flight and when they got to the servo to pay they were told there wasn't any booking and were put off for two days, we went to the servo the following morning, booked in for a 9.30 flight, the girl told my wife we weren't booked in, after a long argument she went and got the boss who luckily remembered the phone calls and organised a flight for us later in in day with a pilot that was supposed to be finished and flying her plane home to Victoria, she wasn't very happy about having to make another flight and made it known to us, to make matters worse a few months later they took $930.00 out of our account, when my wife rang them she was told we didn't turn up for our flight so we had to pay, they did refund the money after she talked to the boss again, lucky for us our last name is the same as a friend of his and he remembered us, alot of people we talked to had the same experience with them, hope you have a good trip,
Ken
