I wish there was a "like" button that we could click on (like on facebook) when we like a comment on the
forum or for when we enjoy reading someones blog!

Why not just post a favourable comment? The originator would probably appreciate the positive
feedback. Let's leave Facebook to Facebook users.

I know this has been discussed before, but I think the negative comments are from members who have never used a
forum with a like button. get with the times fellas lol

Jack, sometimes i do write something but it would be great for me to just be able to go to Madfishers post and click 'like' instead of having to type something!

I doubt very much that progress will ever be turned upside down!
With all the good that this site does for keen travellers it seems very petty to whinging about a something as insignificant as a 'like button'.
In answer to your question, no I don't drive a T Model & I am also not narcissistic enough to use Facebook.
Obviously the moderators are on holidays as this must qualify as being off topic.

Pressing a "Like" button is meaningless. It's like an email saying Happy Birthday. Nothing beats receiving a well thought out card via the slow mail. It means more as the sender had to get off their derrier and actually go to some trouble. How would those who agree to the like button feel if all they got was a bundle of "Likes". Hmmm I wonder if one was from my wife/husband.
No "Like" button for me thanks.
Facebook reminds me of a bunch of old dears with curlers in their hair chatting over the back fence with worthless comments like "I don't feel well". - "Oh dreary. What's up". "The cat is sick".
I was wondering what you meant Shaker. It took a second but now that I realise what you mean I find that the kind of progress referred to is a retrograde step. Soon we will all need an interpreter to "unspell" the written word.

I agree, other forums like tacklebox.com a fishing
forum have now installed a like button. A like button is also helpfull as it does not clog up the
forum with chit chat.

No just with more useless icons that are not needed.
There was concerns that the younger generation could not have a conversation or write a letter because mobile phones and texting has over taken them..... now we have forums where people don't have to post a comment, just hit a button if the like it.

Not just facebook has these buttons,a large fishing
forum that I also frequent has a "like" ,"Thanks for this post " and a "Dislike" button.A good idea if you want to just say a quick thumbs up or agree with a post, without a war and peace reply, suits me as a no nonsence (BS) sort of bloke anyway !

Like or Dislike buttons serve no usefull purpose to a topic, they don't add value to the conversation nor any further information. In short they are only there for lazy people without a real opinion of their own to feel they are in some small way contributing. Unfortunately I think it's only a matter of time till the feature will make it onto the
forum proper as it's a quick way to run up another 100,000 site hits to attract advertisers ;-)
Already you can 'Like' the thread!
Cheers Craig...........

No body is asking to make this
forum i like facebook, the like button in tacklebox is a much better example. The button is small and not intrusive, and you do NOT have to use it. Its a way of saying thanks( which tacvklebox also has).
Those who like it can use it, and those who dont can ignore it. Reallty I cant understand what all the fuss is about.
Cheers Pete

Hi Pete
There isn't any fuss above. It's just a bunch of mates stating opinions in a much more informative and interesting manner than just pressing a button.
Imagine sitting around a camp fire and everyone shaking or nodding their heads after someone said something. No information exchange at all. Just like everyone after the first post pressing a Like or Dislike button. A bit of an exaggeration I know. Maybe a bit of both may be okay. Even though I would rather pop in and type "Like" though.
At least the buttons do not make any grammar or spelling mistakes!!!!!
