Road Conditions

Hi Hortray,

We towed our caravan from Tibooburra through Warri Gate then through Orientos and Santos Stations to Nappa Merrie last Wednesday...it was signposted 4WD dry weather track.

There were a few wet patches with small detours, sandy sections, very rocky towards the northern end...and not all that well signposted! We met only a few people coming south and two stopped to aske whether we had come from Tibooburra as they weren't sure they were on the right road.

We started out on Arrabury road yesterday morning (Saturday) but it had showered the previous night and after a few kms of very sticky red dirt, we turned around and are now taking the longer bitumen alternative to Windorah. We were not sure whether it had rained more further north and had no way of finding out at that point. Did not want to get stuck or be on a road which was closed, unknowingly!
The car and van are carrying a few kgs of red mud as a result!

The previous afternoon we spoke to some men who had just driven it and they said it was the best condition they had ever seen it...like a dirt highway. At that time it had not rained!
