Hi Guys, We are 15 weeks into our lap of Australia and loving every minute. We are about to leave
Darwin and head across the
savannah Way to
Normanton and were wondering if we can cut up on the dirt track to come out on the Peninsula Development road at Artemis near the
Hann River road house instead of going into
Cairns and then up. On our return we will come down through
Cairns. This is one of the main areas my husband has been hanging out to do whilst I drag him around the
Gibb river road, Karijini and
kakadu so any advice on great campsites or
places not to be missed would be appreciated. We are travelling without a real time frame so do not want to pre book as you are supposed to to stay in the National parks which is a pain that we have found elsewhere like
Cape Range and the Bungles but they always seem to be able to fit us in!
Thanks Carreen

The other option - just to throw it in here is up through Palmervale Station with a side track to
Maytown - interesting run through there.
If you go that way - nice
bush camp next to the Lynd River on the west side of the causeway.

Brodie - thanks
it was an 82 HJ47 - which I loved, but unfortunately met a bit of an accident on the Thunderbolt Way last September. Most of the parts from the old girl are now reconstituted / recycled in a restored red 83 HJ47 tray-back.
Tried to post some phots of the new girl, however have difficulty loading new photos onto this site.
