Giday,
We are looking to go bush camping with some friends. We both have kids and want somewhere family friendly. We have looked through several guides and have a short list of places we
think would be good to go camping. We will be going in late May, so want to keep clear of damp / wet / cold / windy spots.

We want a place were we can have a campfire, has pit toilets or where we can dig our own, is reasonably quiet, but not too far off the beaten track.

We are looking at sites around the Eildon area. They are in order of preference,

1. Lower Big River - State Forest (This one might be a bit far from Melbourne)
Chaff Creek Camping Ground, or Big River Camping Ground

2. Jerusalem Creek
Jersulam Creek Camping Ground

3. Eildon National Park
Any Particular spots come to mind ?

4. Jamieson / Howqua
Any Particular spots come to mind ?

Does anybody know anything about any of the above camping sites, or
other good places around these areas that we should consider.

Thanks in advance,
Mal

G'Day Mal, i've been going to the Howqua/Jamieson region for years & there are some fantastic places to go camping.
One in particular that i would recommend is on the Howqua River about 15 mins off the main road.
It is usually accessible by 2wd (unless it's very wet).
It is a large, flat area & you can choose if you want to be near the river or back somewhat.
There are pit toilets (though i can't vouch for how clean they are).
It is the perfect place for kids (as long as you keep your eye on them near the river).
