Hi. Could anyone advise where the High (or low) pressure oil switch is. The vehicle is a 2005 ZD30 Auto. The oil light comes on intermittantly. Have changed the switch in under the turbo but apparently there is another one somewhere.
Thanks,Bob.

This is relatively common fault in this vehicle. My was replaced under warranty,

When they did this they replaced the oil switch and a resistor together.

No further problems.

You could do a search on http://www.patrol4x4.com/forum/.

Hope this helps

The switch will be low down on the side of the engine not far above the sump line where a raised line along the side of the block has the oil gallery inside. The oil pressure switch will be screwed into it there one one side or the other. Usually only one wire but can be two in some cases.
If you unscrew it it will be oily in the threaded hole.

I solve this problem very simply. After stopping I open the bonnet, pull the dipstick out a couple of cms and then reseat it. Light goes off. This will last quite a while. The problem becomes more regular when a service is due and after the oil change doesn't appear for a long time.

If it was my car I would be getting it fixed properly. One day you may need to know if the light is on as a false alarm or a genuine problem. By then it could be a very expensive repair. Bob.

It is near the oil filter and is a well recognised warranty issue. When they replace the switch they replace a considerable length of the wiring too

For anyone interested. The High Pressure oil switch is on the RH side of the engine, hidden down in behind the starter motor. It is really easy to damage the adaptor that the switch screws into. My advice would be to remove the down ward pointing section of the adaptor,(It is bolted to a piece that screws into the block,12mm head on bolt with two copper washers) hold it in a vice and remove the oil switch from it. That way you avoid damaging/breaking the small bolt (it has an oil hole through it)that hold the two sections together. I tried to take photos but it was too tight to get in to photograph. Bob.
