Gee Lyndon, you don't mess around, you just come straight out and ask for ICE.
I'm sure someone will have some hidden in their vehicle.

Sorry, I suddenly realized you meant the frozen stuff made from water.

LOL, yep, we carry 1/2 dozen batteries and 2 fridges so we don't need the stuff! Would lend them our gear but they are on a one way trip then fly out. so anyone, ICE? :-)

Lyndon,

Just checked with one of our girls, you can get ice at Cooinda. Might be a good base for a couple of days touring the area.

We did that, staying at Cooinda, not the ice thingy, and except for the trip down to Gunlom, it's pretty central.

I don't envy them crossing the Gibb with just an esky, at this time of the year. Might be the plan to stock up on dried/tinned food, to reduce risk of food poisoning. During the '74 wet, lived on tinned corn beef for 6 weeks. It's not that bad, but then it's not real good either!!!

Bob.

Jabiru, Kakadu. The Jabiru Service Station may have it! However Kakadu is a biig big place and hot! My guess is the Esky will be used as a seat! No ideal for Gibb but my guess is nil if any! Good lucky! Waeco is the way to go in the Top End!

It is not easy to get ice on the Gibb. We had a fridge but also carried an esky for vegies. Spent a month on the Gibb and it was a pain in the you know what to keep the esky cold/cool. When we did find a place that would sell some ice it was usually expensive and in a very large block. Would not take an esky again, next time we will either get a bigger fridge or second fridge.
I know that is not much help, but we did get ice, just cannot recall where.

Thanks Folks.

Had thought of Jabiru and Cooinda. Don't know where to suggest on the Gibb as we always use fridges.

Cheers
