Hi P&G,

I have a 2008 Patrol. nothing has been said to me re a modification to the fuel rail. can you explain what is and what it is for. Did they do a recall or was it done to fix a problem.

Would be interested in your feedback.

Thanks

Alan

I had the car chipped which I have subsequently removed as it caused more problems than it was worth, even though it was fitted professionally and retuned several times by the 'experts' Fuel consumption rose by some 25% and the vehicle developed this really annoying buzzing sound. Anyway when this was initially installed they also did a fuel rail modification which from what I can tell involved only replacing one bolt which somehow causes the vehicle not to dump back unused fuel instead this bolt makes it use the fuel - I cannot find just where this bolt fits in the fuel line. I have it and have looked at every bolt in the fuel rail and although I can see some that are similar none when I take them out match. Therefore I was wondering if anyone can assist me to identify exactly where this bolt goes.

The car though is running much better WITHOUT the chip and I guess that my little experiment thus far has left me over $3,000 poorer with the cost of the installation and the increased fuel costs. I am currently trying to see if I can get the manufacturer of the chip to come to the party with at least a partial refund??

Cheers

Peter

Muzzgit, sorry wont name currently as am in negotiations to get my money back - however I will say that I have heard since having mine installed of so many people who are just removing them as they are dissatisfied with both performance and fuel consumption.
