Hi, new to the forum and based in Perth, WA. I am looking for advice on best places for:-

1. New or good used spares in Perth or for a 1984 HJ47 Troopie I am refurbishing.

2. Good company to reupholster the front seats.

3. Advice on removal and replacing side windows and windscreen (with new rubber seals) after respray or should I get it done professionally.

4. Best place for help on installing duel battery system and solar set up.

4. Anyone in Perth who has a HJ47 or knowledgeable about them who is happy for me to contact them for advice.

Any help most appreciated. Cheers, John

Thanks Nick I will bear that in mind. Looking on the internet it seems they make a large profit on the freight charges. Cheers.

John,
Try TC Trimmers in Midvale for re-upholstering, not particularly cheap but does good work.
Not sure if any Totota dealers would have parts as they are getting on a bit. Tony's wreckers also in Midvale have a very good range of second hand 4WD parts.
Maybe try Robson Brothers in Welshpool area for your dual battery setup. Never had personal experience with them as I do all my own stuff but I have heard they have a good reputation and they may be able to help with parts. I guess ARB or someone like that as an alternative for your dual battery and solar setup.

I had the earlier HJ45 Troopy, very solid and reliable, also very slow..lol. I think they are a top vehicle, just getting a little long in the tooth.

Cheers

I have used tc Trimmers for the reupholstery of the caravan seats, excellent service and good workmanship, very satisfied customer, The dual battery System Try kings Auto electrics in Bayswater, I have used this company for all my electronics over many Years, for both my trucks and for-b-fours, Reasonably priced and very efficient and they seem to stay abreast of all the modern electronics, as well as do the older generation vehicles, . Good luck as for the paint job, sorry but I can't help you there.

Having just restored an HJ47 tray (from my old HJ47 troopie) I have a few parts stockists on the web that might help... no affiliation - just use them to source parts - plenty of bits & parts out there if you're prepared to look (and use Professor Google)

http://stores.ebay.com.au/ROODOGS-4WD-SPARES are great

http://www.tru-fitcarpets.com.au/ - are the only local company I've found that do interior mats & linings

http://www.cruisercorps.com/
http://shop.cruiserparts.net/

last 2 are US sites - so mainly deal in shorty bits ... US sites don't sell Deisel bits as they weren't sold over there

Kenya - if you get a member account I'm happy if you want to ping me an email for any suggestions - having just been through an HJ47 restoration - might be able to help.
