The Copeton Waters State
Park is on the western side of the dam. It has a lot of
infrastructure with admin building, covered picnic shelters, bbq's, toilet/shower facilities,children's playgrounds etc, etc. When we visited in October 2008, the
water level was very low and only several other campers were there - holiday time would be a different story.
We enjoyed the solitude.
