morning groovers
just a quick question, with the new ADRAIL now opperational will the old Gahn track still be accessable to 4WD ??? because im planning a trip around that area for next year

Mate,
The Old Ghan Railway runs up through
Leigh Creek,
Lyndhurst, Maree then runs alongside the
Oodnadatta Track, up to
Oodnadatta - Finke etc. So the "new line" doesnt affect it anyway as it hasn't been used as the main railway line from
Adelaide to Alice since ?buggered if I know, but the line was totally closed in 1980. So I guess my answer to your question is yes, parts of it. Grab a map of Great Desert Tracks SE Map that will explain your question. Also if your planning a trip up that way get a copy of Outback - South Australia & Central Australia by Stuart Nicol from the RAA in
Adelaide, great book.
