First stop today was the Wool Centre where the town Information centre is. The Wool centre is very interesting and has a lot of history detail and displays in the rear of the shop at the front. We picked up a walking tour map that showed the way to the main historical areas in town and the location of the businesses that you may need. The walk took us initially to the Methodist Church, followed by the “Female Factory” Site. Unfortunately most of the buildings of the Female Factory were gone but the detail of the drawings and other memorabilia in the remaining building showed the hardship that the female convicts faced.

Returning to the centre of town we passed the cross road where on each corner stood, the Catholic Church, the Hotel, the Town Hall and another building which changed its use over the years from a prison to a house.

Down the street was the original Post Office which is still operating as a Post office. Also along the way my wife found 2 shops with pre used items and antiques.

Not far from the Caravan Park was the original stone arch bridge which is on the way to Hobart. Even though the Highway now bypasses Ross the bridge is still in use today and in immaculate condition.
