Glorious days at Ningaloo

ExplorOz - David & Michelle

We are now settled into our holiday and enjoying the bountiful fishing and good weather.

3 big (over 20kg) Spanish mackerel have been caught but no luck so far with squid.

I did an 8km paddle yesterday almost into Norwegian Bay - everyone here spends a lot of time on the kayaks enjoying crystal clear water, green turtles, bull rays, dolphins and dugongs. Most people also take a spotter on kayak when they go for long swims or hug the shoreline!

The only negative is our campfire - wood here is very expensive and the upright drums we must use are not suitable for baking with a camp oven so cakes, bread, puddings etc that I had promised the kids have not been forthcoming!

Leah, David and I, are all engrossed in our books but there's also sand castle building, walks, shell collecting, swimming, playing with kids from other camps and a night game with the red and white lights of the headlamps called Hunter!

We haven't yet had time (!) for water skiing but the kids have had a spin on the new ski tube which brought lots of smiles.

We have been able to get patchy 3G service so have made/received calls, used the Internet to do banking and even set up our home tv to record a show (via Media Portal), and of course send these blogs via email through the mobile (iPhone).

Don't want to come back yet! Bit jealous of the many long-termers here. Oh and we bumped into members Hans and Anneke (sherif from the wiluna gathering last year).

hope you enjoy the pics...
