It was a convoluted day really. I was up early and completed the packing of the vehicle before heading down to Maccas for breakfast and then a last minute call to RSA safety for gloves. Hitched the trailer and went down to Safeway fuel outlet Cleaned and vacuumed the house before receiving a phone call from S & G that they would be delayed due to the last minute decision to fit a radio to their vehicle. Anticipated time of departure was reset to 12.00 noon.

I headed into Mark and Val’s in Fairfield to see their new house and show Mark the trailer. Whilst having a cuppa I received a further phone call delaying departure to 2:00 p.m. Finally, I got myself over to Keilor and had a snooze in the car park of the council offices awaiting S & G who finally arrived at 2.40 p.m. We said farewell to Drew and then off and up the Calder under threatening skies. We managed to drive out from under the weather once we got over the ranges. Pulled in at Charlton for a Burger dinner (they managed to forget my order twice!) and then on the road again towards Mildura. We were all pretty much rooted by the time we got to Ouyen so proceeded to Tiega where we pulled in off the Highway behind the silos and set up camp for the first time. All done in the dark!

A fitful nights sleep. Very crisp although the two sleeping bags did the job!

trip would doubtless be attended with much hardship.''
