After crossing the Simpson using camels in July 1939, the Madigan party headed south down the
Birdsville Track.
Camping nearby the scientists collected specimens while Madigan climbed this flat topped mesa. He describes it as covered in gibbers above
sandstone and gypsum. Some 90 years later it is little changed.
