B.M.R.(1959) approved file 1635/56 vol2 p337 & 346; The Cronin hills are not more than 31m high. They are named after Mr Dan Cronin, a member of Edward Kidsons magnetic survey expedition of 1914 - The expedition carried out magnetic observations along the
Canning Stock Route. The group of hills are interspersed between sand ridges to the east of
Lake Disappointment.
Cronin also travelled back down the CSR after the expedition with the camels used by Kidson. Cronin was a camelman on William Snell’s 1929
well reconstruction party and a camelman teamster on Canning’s 1930–31
Well reconstruction party.
