Information

The Old Cloncurry Road was originally called the Smith Highway , It was the track used before the Barkly Highway was built, the one used today, Before the advent of the Motor Vehicle Cobb & Co used it , It is also the road used by by the RedEx and Ampol Trial cars of the early 1950s.
In the days of Cobb & Co the town of Mt Isa was not there, the track went a winding route through the Argylla Ranges direct from Cloncurry to Camooweal, The Military also used it with Convoys of vehicles during WWII , They would have rumbled right by the grave of little 14 month old Elsie Campbell.
