Canning Stock Route 2025 - WA

29 May 2025 to 29 Jun 2025 - Geoff Ross Drew Sam. We travelled the Oodnadatta Track through Maree to William Creek where we had a 2-hour flight over Kati Thanda (Lake Eyre) then on to Oodnadatta. From Oodnadatta through the Painted Desert to Alice. From Alice up the Tanami Track to the Blue Car turnoff to Mulan and camped by the beautiful, and full, Paruku (Lake Gregory). Over the next 2 weeks we travelled down the Canning Stock Route from north to south. Out from Wiluna we camped at Rosslyn Hill lead mine and then Leonora and visited Gwalia. We then travelled through Laverton to Uluru along the Great Central Road, camping at Giles weather station and watching the early morning balloon launch. We watched the sun set over Uluru, camped underground at Coober Pedy and stopped in at Woomera Rocket Museum. We called into Echuca to visit Max, who at 87 was dying of cancer and in palliative care.
