Hi ExplorOz Reader

If you're using the Traveller app while exploring this amazing country, don't forget - you're not just navigating, you're part of a powerful community - driven resource.

In this newsletter, we want to show you features you might not even realise you already have access to!

This edition empowers you with tips on using features like Folders to stay organised and in control of your trip planning and also delivers tips on correcting public Place information.

This email is just a glimpse of what's possible - if you'd like more detailed guidance, check out theYouTube tutorials, browse the Help Guides, or simply dive in and explore!

Places: See something wrong? Fix it on the spot!

Unlike other apps, Traveller lets you Edit and even Create public Places (ExplorOz Places) directly - no submission form or waiting for approval. Changes go live instantly, and we stay on top of verification daily.

This means everytime you look at the app content, you have the opportunity to help improve it - for yourself, and for every other traveller using the app.

Here's a few things you can do:

  • Correct Place info - tap the blue Edit icon to change Place name, contact details, description, change the place type, add or change facilities. There is also a text link at bottom of description asking "Can you improve this entry?".
  • Add phone numbers, emails, and weblinks (for bookings to National Parks, Caravan Parks, and other point of interest links)
  • Add photos
  • Put fees into the review section
  • Put your observations/comments about Places (good or bad) into the reviews section
  • Move the marker if the location is slightly off

Out on the tracks? Don't just pass by - improve the Place listings around you and make a real difference. Your input has genuine impact - just a few taps can help thousands of fellow travellers. Add photos, reviews, or even create new public Places while offline - they'll auto-sync the next time you're online.

Plan Smart - Use Private Notes

Jot down personal reminders or diary entries for any Place using the Personal Notes field. Only you can see these notes, and they stay saved to your account, ready on each of your devices - even offline.

Important: Don't put private info in public Place descriptions or names. Those details are visible to everyone and can't be removed easily.

Your notes appear just below the Place description - simply reopen the Place to find them. To quickly locate all Places where you’ve added Notes, simply apply the MyNotes filter to your Places list. If you use Folders, you can also see Notes by using the Show Notes tool.

In the image above, you can see a Note entry. The image below shows that Note and others in our "NSW" folder - seen by using the Notes display at the top of the Folder list.

There are plenty of features to explore - check out our YouTube tutorials and Help Guides to get the most from the app.

Use Folders to Stay Organised

Did you know you can group your content using Folders? Folders work as tags and can include:

    Personal Places
  • Treks
  • Track Logs

You can view each folder:

  • As a searchable list - to easily select a single item
  • Or see all items in your Folder displayed on the map (enable Folders on the Map Layers toolbar)
  • Use the Map Layers toolbar to select All Folders - or filter to show only specific Folders

Example 1: Create a folder called "My Finds - Animals" and tag your wildlife sightings (create Places for locations you want to recall) with species info and photos.

Example 2: Create a folder called "Favourite Trips" and tag your favourite Track Logs into its own folder. Then it's easy to see them all at once if needed on the map.

Example 3: Create folders for every state/region you wish to visit and tag Places that interest you into these. Create a Group called "Bucket Lists" and then add each of these Folders to the group.
