cpac machine how to use with battery power??

looking at this link:

They recommend a 300W/500W surge inverter, so the amp draw on a 12V battery can be expected to be around 25A max, most likely less than 20A time averaged.

So for 8 hours of sleep, that's around 160Ah.
You could try to get away with 2x95Ah batteries wired in parallel.
But 2x125Ah in parallel would definitely work.

charging:
a generator or mains powered charger up to 50 or 60A peak output.
Or, a smaller charger, say 25A output, powered by generator for 6 hours. In both cases, supplementary solar charging (100W panel) for the remainder of the day is definitely a bonus.

I'd contact the manufacturer first, to find out the more detailed power requirements of this particular unit.
Also ask, what type of inverter can be used: modified sine or pure sine.

G'day Les & Helen. Just Google your machine and you'll get all the specs. You may need a dedicated 12 volt adaptor if the machine operates on 12 volts. If not, you'll need an inverter. Cheers.

I too use a cpap machine every night I have a fisher and paykel series 11. My husband (smokie) set up a genuine 12 volt adaptor which plugs into the cpap machine and then into the 12 volt system in the camper which is powered by a 100 amph deep cycle battery which runs three light and a 80 it waeco fridge and of course my machine. we have a 180watt solar panel which recharges the system when sitting for two days. I can use my machine for two nights with out recharging including running lights and fridge. So we use the solar panel for more than two days, over night we just recharge through the car alternator whilst driving.

I've been using a CPAP (Resmed) camping over the last 8 years, without problem.

Mine runs off a 100 watt or at times a 60 watt can type inverter and uses less than a fridge for the whole 7-8 hours sleep.

Hi Les & Helen, I too use a fisher paykel 600 series cpap & we use a pure sine wave Projecta 300watt inverter.We also have 2x 120 ah batteries linked together.To charge the batteries we use 120watt portable solar panel also Projecta.There is enough charge in the batteries to do 2 nights but we always charge everyday if there is sunlight.We do use lights in the van but carefully.Happy travelling,Barry & Cheryl.

According to the specs it draws a maximum of 2 amps at 240v. If it is on for 8 hours that is 16 A/Hrs which is not a lot. If you have a 100 A/Hr battery jn the camper trailer and means of charging it - alternator/120 watt portable solar etc. and a 300 watt pure sine wave inverter you shouldn't have too many problems.

I have a phillips cpap and use it in the troopy, boat and truck, it runs off 240v and 12 volts. Last for several nights in troopy, i have a 100amp second battery, also fridge and lights.

I'm not familiar with the F&P machine, and you didn't say whether you're using an humidifier (which will draw significantly more current).

I have a Resmed S9 Autoset, and the specs are (for my pressure setting) 0.95A without the humidifier, and 4.09A with, when using their DC converter.

Based on the literature I've read, your needs will vary with pressure and EPR settings, plus the temp you run your humidifier at (if fitted).

For inverters, I can run my device on a 150w square wave, or 200w with the humidifier.
