About ExplorOz and EOTopo
ExplorOz is an Australian travel platform developed and operated by I.T. Beyond Pty Ltd, including the
ExplorOz Traveller app,
ExplorOz Tracker app, EOTopo mapping system, Traveller Web-App and related online
services.
EOTopo is the proprietary digital topographic mapping system developed and maintained by ExplorOz for use within the Traveller ecosystem, including the
ExplorOz Traveller app and Traveller Web-App.
Our products and
services evolve over time as mapping data, technology platforms, operating systems and online
services continue to change.
Digital Products and Licensing
EOTopo map editions, Traveller app
services, subscriptions and related digital products are licensed for use and are not sold as physical goods.
Purchases and subscriptions provide access to digital products and
services subject to these Terms of Use and any applicable app store or platform provider requirements.
Access conditions, features, supported lifecycle periods, compatibility and platform support may change over time as products,
services, operating systems, technologies and business requirements evolve.
Use of products purchased through third-party app stores may also be subject to the terms and policies of the relevant platform provider.
Promotional, Evaluation and Complimentary Access
Promotional access, evaluation licences, beta access, complimentary products, reviewer access, support-issued codes, gifted subscriptions or other non-standard access arrangements remain subject to these Terms of Use unless expressly stated otherwise in writing by I.T. Beyond Pty Ltd.
Provision of complimentary or promotional access does not create ongoing entitlement to future products, updates, subscriptions, support periods or compatibility beyond the applicable product terms and lifecycle arrangements.
EOTopo Map Editions
EOTopo is released as a series of map editions, typically updated annually.
Each edition represents a fixed snapshot of the EOTopo map at the time of release. Updates and improvements are released in newer editions rather than modifying previous editions after purchase.
Single-edition purchases provide access to one selected EOTopo edition only.
Subscription products provide access to the latest available EOTopo edition while the subscription remains active.
Supported Lifecycle Periods
EOTopo map editions are supported for use within current versions of the Traveller app for a defined lifecycle period from release.
During this supported period, users may continue to download and use their licensed edition subject to device compatibility, operating system support and ongoing platform availability.
Older unsupported editions may eventually become unavailable for download or incompatible with newer versions of the Traveller app as platforms, operating systems and technologies evolve.
Nothing in these Terms guarantees indefinite compatibility, download availability or future operation across all devices, operating systems or third-party platforms.
Offline Maps and App Functionality
Offline map functionality is provided through supported versions of the
ExplorOz Traveller app.
Some
services and functions may require periodic internet access for:
- account authentication
- subscription validation
- map downloads
- syncing and backup services
- app integrity checks
- online map viewing
- service updates
While offline mapping is designed for remote travel use, uninterrupted compatibility across all future devices, operating systems and third-party platforms cannot be guaranteed indefinitely.
Device Compatibility and Third-Party Android Systems
ExplorOz Traveller and related
services rely on supported operating systems, modern device frameworks and third-party platform components including Android System WebView and Google Play
services.
Some Android-based devices, in-vehicle systems and modified Android distributions may restrict, alter or prevent normal operation of required platform components.
Compatibility with the Google Play Store minimum operating system version does not guarantee full compatibility with all device hardware, firmware implementations or third-party Android systems.
Certain features or functions may not operate correctly on:
- non-certified Android devices
- heavily customised Android systems
- older embedded in-vehicle systems
- devices using outdated WebView components
- devices where Google system components cannot be updated
Where third-party hardware manufacturers or firmware providers do not supply compatible platform updates, some app functionality may become limited or unavailable following app, operating system or platform updates.
We do not guarantee ongoing compatibility with all third-party Android hardware or modified Android implementations.
Subscriptions and Renewals
Subscription products may include access to EOTopo maps,
Membership features, online
services or related functionality while the subscription remains active.
Subscriptions purchased through Apple App Store or Google Play are managed by the relevant app store provider, including billing, renewals, cancellations and refund handling in accordance with their policies and applicable laws.
For subscriptions and digital access products purchased directly through the ExplorOz website, billing and renewals are managed by I.T. Beyond Pty Ltd.
Cancelling a subscription prevents future renewals but does not entitle the user to a partial refund for any remaining active access period, except where required under Australian Consumer Law or applicable app store policies.
Subscription access may cease if payment fails, the subscription expires or the subscription is cancelled.
Online Services and Usage-Based Features
Some ExplorOz products and
services rely on online systems, cloud
infrastructure and third-party service providers, including online map delivery, routing
services, syncing, Tracker
services and account-based functionality.
Certain online features may be subject to usage limits, metering systems, service quotas or subscription inclusions.
Online map usage calculations, tile metering and related reporting are generated automatically by our systems and may vary depending on device usage, zoom levels, map layers, syncing activity, multiple device access and background application behaviour.
Tracker
services and live location features are provided as general travel and location-sharing
tools only and must not be relied upon for emergency response, safety-critical monitoring or guaranteed realtime location tracking.
Tracker updates and live
services may be delayed, interrupted or unavailable due to mobile coverage limitations, device behaviour, server maintenance, syncing delays, third-party outages or other operational factors outside our reasonable control.
Service availability, realtime updates and online functionality may occasionally be interrupted, delayed or unavailable due to maintenance, connectivity issues, server load, third-party outages or platform limitations.
While reasonable efforts are made to maintain reliable
services, uninterrupted realtime operation, continuous availability and error-free usage reporting cannot be guaranteed.
Membership Services
ExplorOz
Membership products may include access to additional
services and features including the Traveller Web-App, Tracker
services, cloud syncing and related online functionality.
Membership inclusions and features may change over time as
services evolve.
Map Data, Places and Navigation Information
EOTopo maps,
Places,
routes,
track logs, navigation guidance and related travel information combine data from national datasets, field research, third-party sources, automated processing, community contributions and ongoing mapping refinement processes.
Some route calculations and navigation
services may rely on third-party routing engines, external data providers or automated processing systems.
Although considerable effort is made to maintain accurate and current information, maps,
routes,
Places, navigation guidance and travel data may contain errors, omissions, outdated information or incomplete detail.
Roads, tracks, land access conditions, closures, hazards, weather, terrain and travel conditions can change without notice.
Navigation guidance, suggested
routes and travel information are provided as general guidance only and must not replace personal judgement, official
signage, local advice, safe travel practices or appropriate trip preparation.
Users remain solely responsible for:
- navigation decisions
- route selection
- vehicle suitability
- trip planning and preparation
- compliance with laws and access restrictions
- personal safety and risk assessment
ExplorOz, EOTopo and I.T. Beyond Pty Ltd accept no responsibility for loss, damage, injury, delay or death arising from reliance on map data,
Places information,
routes, navigation guidance or related travel content except where liability cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.
Third-Party Services and Platforms
Our products and
services may rely on third-party systems including:
- Apple iOS
- Google Android
- app stores
- satellite imagery providers
- online map providers
- cloud hosting services
- internet connectivity providers
Changes made by third-party providers may affect compatibility, functionality or service availability.
We are not responsible for outages, interruptions or limitations caused by third-party systems outside our control.
User Accounts and Community Content
Users may submit content including reviews, comments,
track logs,
routes, photos and other contributions.
By submitting content, you grant us permission to use, display, reproduce and distribute that content within ExplorOz products,
services and promotional material.
Users remain responsible for the content they submit and must not upload unlawful, abusive, misleading or infringing material.
We reserve the right to remove content or suspend accounts where necessary to protect our
services, users or community standards.
Account Security and User Responsibility
Users are responsible for maintaining the security of their ExplorOz account login details, devices and passwords.
Users are responsible for activity that occurs under their account, including data changes, purchases, uploads, edits, deletions and syncing activity.
We recommend keeping your account details secure and maintaining your own backups of important data, including
routes, treks,
Places,
track logs and personal travel records.
Certain
services and account functions require successful email communication between ExplorOz systems and the user’s nominated email address, including account verification, password resets, service notifications and security-related communications.
Users are responsible for maintaining a valid and accessible email address and for ensuring that emails from ExplorOz are not blocked by spam filters, antivirus software, firewall settings, mail provider restrictions or other third-party filtering systems.
Failure to receive or respond to required account emails may affect account activation, access to
services or use of certain product features.
ExplorOz may send important operational, account, service, subscription, support or Terms-related communications to users via email or published notices within ExplorOz platforms and websites.
Users are responsible for monitoring communications relating to their account and
services.
If a user opts out of certain email communications, some notices may instead only be available through published website updates, account areas or online service announcements.
While reasonable efforts are made to maintain the security and integrity of ExplorOz systems and user data, no internet-based platform or electronic storage system can guarantee absolute security or uninterrupted availability.
Users acknowledge that online
services may be exposed to risks including unauthorised access, malware, service interruption, hardware failure, software faults or third-party security incidents beyond our reasonable control.
Forums, Classifieds and Community Content
ExplorOz includes community areas such as Forums, Reviews,
Places comments, user contributions and
Classifieds.
Content submitted by users is user-generated and may not be independently verified by ExplorOz.
ExplorOz is not a party to transactions, arrangements or communications between users through the
Classifieds or other community areas.
Users participate in community discussions and
Classifieds transactions at their own risk and remain responsible for verifying information, assessing goods or
services, and complying with applicable laws.
We reserve the right to edit, remove or refuse content, listings or accounts where necessary to protect our
services, users or community standards.
Shop and Ecommerce Services
Products sold through the ExplorOz
Shop may include digital products, access products, memberships, map licences, physical goods or third-party supplied products.
Product availability, pricing, descriptions, inclusions and delivery arrangements may change from time to time.
For physical goods, delivery times may be affected by supplier availability, carrier delays, stock limitations or circumstances outside our control.
Product images, specifications and descriptions are provided in good faith but may vary from the final supplied product where manufacturers, suppliers or product versions change.
Refunds, returns and remedies for purchases made directly through the ExplorOz website are handled in accordance with these Terms and Australian Consumer Law.
Privacy Policy
Use of ExplorOz products and
services is also subject to our
Privacy Policy. Some
services may use account and location information to configure privacy-related features and personalised functionality as described in our
Privacy Policy.

Information, guidance and troubleshooting assistance provided through the ExplorOz Help Desk, forums, support channels, social media, emails or other communications is provided in good faith for general assistance purposes only.
Technical advice, travel guidance, mapping assistance and device recommendations may not be suitable for all users, devices, vehicle systems, operating environments or travel situations.
Users remain responsible for evaluating advice, verifying suitability for their circumstances and making their own decisions regarding navigation, travel, device configuration, software installation and use of third-party hardware or
services.
We are not responsible for loss, damage, interruption or incompatibility arising from reliance on support information or technical guidance except where liability cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, I.T. Beyond Pty Ltd and ExplorOz exclude liability for loss, damage, injury, interruption or expense arising from:
- use of our products or services
- map inaccuracies or omissions
- navigation decisions or route selection
- routing calculations or navigation guidance
- Tracker services or live location updates
- service interruptions or online outages
- device, firmware or operating system incompatibility
- third-party platform or provider changes
- subscription interruptions or billing platform issues
- data loss, syncing conflicts or account access issues
- community content, classified listings or user interactions
Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or remedies that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.
