We have just purchased a new van and have been given the choice of standard suburban hot
water setup or gas only endless supply setup. Any feed back from those who have experience with the endless supply setup would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Dean

I don't know about van type units, but we have an endless supply type at home. Used to be called gas geyser units. Simply a gas flame and heat exchange unit to heat the
water required. Perfectly good system and possibly more compact than a storage system for your situation.

We had one fitted to our new off road van and provided you have an endless supply of
water and gas it is fantastic.
If you go the storage route read the fine print on recovery times as some we were offered looked good but needed both 240v and gas to meet the advertised recovery.
Cheers

Hi Dean We often think that the gas only endless hot
water system would have been a better option not that we were given a choice when we bought our van, but we spend a lot of time on 240v power so naturally we are not using our gas. The Suburban we have only has the 22lt
tank and when it's cold it doesn't take long for us to run out of hot
water.

The endless HW unit are similar to a domestic instantaneous HW unit which we have at home. We find there is a delay, longer than storage type, before the hot
water comes through. Therefore a lot of
water can be wasted. We have Suburban gas/electric unit and find it ideal for our purposes. We
free camp most of the time and could not afford to waste
water. Plus you get a cold slug of
water in between uses. I also believe the demand on gas would also be much higher. As someone pointed out when in a caravan
park why waste your gas when you can use power that you are already paying for.
Definitely a storage unit.
