One of the problems with towing a van with a conventional hitch on my 2007 Prado is that when hooked up I am unable to open rear door.
Saw an article in caravanworld magazine where a Pajero owner had same problem and fixed it by fitting an Al-ko Offroad hitch.
.
Interested to know if anyone has fitted one to a 120 series Prado and does it enable rear door to be opened when connected to van.
The blurb on al-ko offroad hitch is here

Hi
I have a 2007 Prado and tow an Assie Swag trailer with an off road Al Ko hitch, the type with the pin through not like your photos. I my mind these are trouble free where the others like you have shown have a habit of being hard to unhitch when they get dusty.
I can fully open the back door, the only limitation is the stone guard but provided you stop at an angle, the door will open right around.
cheers

Thanks outback epicurean,
Will have a look at both to see which suits,
I have no stone guard so that should be good.

Check these hitches out they are designed to allow you to open tailgates / rear doors.

You really should take a look at a DO 35 from vehicle components. Not only is it the best and easiest off road coupling available but they make a low profile version specifically for Pajero and Prado's with the large swinging doors.

Yes it is being considered, thanks Boobook.
Do you know if ithe DO35 can be used with a HR WDH?

Also have a look at the Hyland Hitch.
It's profile is much lower than a standard hitch and can rotate in all directions as
well as being used with a wdh.
Remembering to remove the wdh when going off road.
