Phil,
As I posted on the Caravaners
Forum, there is another video on utube showing the bus and several parked vehicles caught in the foam. Some of those vehicles were being recovered by their owners. That's what I think happened here. I don't think it was someone skylarking.
But I do think a lot of people are being judgemental.

He must have known there were people around. Driving blind in a public area isn't real smart.

He had to get his car out.
Why were people standing in the middle of the road?

I can only assume the
Police didn't have any idea that a car was heading for them.
Maybe they should have realised something they didn't know was there and they couldn't see was going to collide with them
Obviously it wasn't the drivers fault because he couldn't see where he was going.........

Why did I say that it's stupid. Because the driver couldn't have been able to see where he was going. And that he certainly didn't seem to do it slowly and cautiously. That's why! Would you have done it. Buggered if I would. If you sau that you would have done the same then I take pity on you.
I am happy for it to be shown that he could see clearly where he was going.

I think he found the foam cycle and was just looking for the rinse cycle.
IMHO pity he didn't find it in the ocean

My iPad doesn't give a url link for the utube video I referred to above.
Anyone interested can enter "
Alexandra Headlands foam" in utube's search window. It was submitted by "camseeber" and looks like it was taken on a mobile phone.
However, it clearly shows that tourist coach and several vehicles with foam at roof level in that
carpark (I assume it was a
carpark). Some cars were being pushed, one was being driven out.
The owners had no choice, imo, but the pedestrians ceratainly did.
And yes, if it was my vehicle in there, I most certainly would have driven it out. Most of those observers should have seen what was happening and got off the road.

Sorry to disagree with you but the idiot didn't HAVE to get his car out. Responsible people would have had their property insured. Would your comment have been the same if one of the
police officers (presumably
police) had been hit and injured. The speed at which they came out of the foam showed that they were reckless. The car is damaged anyway being covered in salty foam.

My god there are some judgemental, whingeing armchair experts on this site. I'm with GB, I would do the same if it meant retrieving my car. probably beeping
the horn furiously though but easy to say by old Monday's Experts.

Are you seriously saying that you would drive your car at that speed without seeing anything ahead!!
I cannot see how you can say that it's safe. Leave the car there. It should be insured anyway. Or do as one other did just before it, get pushed out or at the least guided by someone next to the drivers window.
I think that it's warranted this time to, as you put it, "be judgemental".

I agree PJR and 'eighty matey' - you shouldn't be driving when/where you can't see.

Mad Dog I may be, but not crazy, Cool if you assess the risk and put the necessary controls in place, spotter, sit on the roof, block off the road anything except drive blindly, bit like firing a rifle without actually being able to see what your shooting at. Soon enough someone is going to get hurt. And cars are only hunks of steel and their still making them. Just my opinion but

Lotta guesswork going on in this thread.
It was not a
carpark it is a public main road at
Alexandra Headland on the Sunshine Coast not too far from
my home. The
police were positioned to control traffic and obviously did not expect a car to leap out of the foam at them
You can read the full story in our local newspaper website together with video
here.
